CARE · HOME · PARTICIPATIONSupport should create stability.
My experience as a person with disabilities and a caregiver-supported adult shapes the issues I bring forward.
LEGISLATIVE WORK IN PROGRESSTwo ideas.
A lasting difference.
I am working with a current Idaho Republican legislator on a few legislative proposals. Two focus on the people who provide care and the people who depend on it.
PROPOSAL 01 · C.O.V.E.R.T.Coverage for people who provide care.
The C.O.V.E.R.T. proposal seeks affordable, portable health coverage for caregivers and support workers, including community support workers and support brokers.
The goal is to help people continue providing essential care without losing their own access to healthcare as their work arrangements change.
PROPOSAL 02 · HOUSING CONTINUITYA home beyond a caregiver’s lifetime.
This proposal aims to help family caregivers provide lasting housing stability for their disabled dependents after the caregiver dies or moves into assisted living.
My goal is to prevent homelessness and displacement, including exploring protections related to Medicaid estate recovery and recognizing where federal changes may be needed.
These are legislative concepts in development. They are not enacted laws or guaranteed benefits. Drafting and legal review will determine their final scope.
MY PERSONAL VIEWPOINTSBeliefs shaped by lived experience.
UNITYRepresent everyone fairly
I’m a Republican moderate who believes public service should reach beyond party labels. I expect elected officials to represent everyone fairly, including those who did not vote for them.
AUTONOMYMedical decisions are personal
I consider myself both pro-life and pro-choice. After waiting 28 years for the hysterectomy I requested, I received it two months before Roe v. Wade was overturned. That experience makes bodily autonomy deeply personal.
PRIVACYDisability does not erase choice
I believe men and women, with and without disabilities, deserve medical privacy, respect, and authority over their own bodies.
FAITHFreedom of belief
I respect the freedom to practice a religion—or none. I believe that same respect should guide how we treat people making personal medical decisions.
DIGNITYDisagreement never excuses hate
I oppose transgender participation in sports. I also believe transgender people should be allowed to serve and live safely. Policy disagreement never excuses hate crimes or harassment.
OPPORTUNITYListen before a crisis
Reliable internet, accessible education, stable housing, and support for caregivers affect whether people can participate. I want leaders to hear residents before those barriers become a crisis.
BEYOND PARTY EXPECTATIONSRepresenting everyone is the job.
Cross-party support can happen. The problem is that it is often treated as unorthodox. I believe the responsibility that comes with public office is to serve all people fairly—not only the side that helped someone win.
